Directions How to make your own Globe of Hope

You will need:

  1. 45 inches of chicken wire

  2. Wire cutters

  3. Blue LED 50 strand Christmas lights

  4. Extension cord

  5. Measuring Tape

  6. Gloves

  7. 1.Cut 45 inches length of chicken wire.

2. Overlap the chicken wire around itself into a cylinder shape.

  1. 3.Stand the cylinder up and work on one of the ends. Cut the edges of each open end of the cylinder, making 4 cuts, about 5.5" down from the top in a diamond pattern (North, South, East, and West.) Be sure not to cut the seam that you have assembled in the previous step.

  2. 4. Fold the North and South cuts in together and secure, followed by the East and West ends. This will make the corners more rounded. Push them around to make the cylinder shape.

5. Flip it over on the other side and close the open hole by repeating step 3.

6. Now that the ends are closed, you will need to start molding the wire with your hands to shape it into a beach ball shape.

7. Once the wire is in the shape of a ball, it is time to attach the lights. Secure the end of the Christmas light strand to the ball by tying a knot.  You will need to stick the end through the wire to secure it.

8. Start winding the blue lights around the ball in different directions to cover the ball.

9. When you get to the end of the strand of lights, weave it through the wire to secure the lights.

  1. 10. Attach an extension cord to the ball and plug it in.

  2. 11. You can hang your new Globe of Hope from a tree, on your porch, or from a shepherds hook. We hope you enjoy "Spreading the Globe" and raising awareness for Prostate Cancer.

Help fight Prostate Cancer and "Spread the Globe," by raising awareness and making a difference.
